Hello everyone,
Finally got registered thanks to Pete and Archie. Thanks guys. I lucked into a nice Black Magic V-3 at our club event this past Saturday. It had the landing gear broken out, without much damage, a little to the nose cowl at the landing gear, and a small dimple on the left wing, nothing paint can't cure. I have reinstalled the landing gear. I got the complete plane minus the rudder servo of which I have replaced. It has a DZ160 with Hyde mount, bubbless tank and header, adjustable wing hard ware, Hitec 985 elevator servo and good aileron servos of which I can't remember. I saw a problem with the ailerons when I installed the wings, if both ailerons are centered on the inboard trailing edge the right is 1/8" below the wing tip leading edge and the left is 1/8" above. I have not had time to get the incidence meter to see if it is wing warp or what. I do know I have seen it fly and it flew beautifully. It belonged to Forrest Shaffer, a young and very good pilot. He just dosen't have the time for pattern now so I became its owner. I am not an expert pattern pilot. I have flown in the SPA novice contests. I am a good sport pilot. I just love to see a model do what airplanes can do, except 3D, thats why they made helicopters. Anyway thanks for allowing me to join your forum and looking forward to a mirage of hints and tricks I have already been reading. Here are a couple pics of the bird, please excuse the shop, I have just finished a Crashstoration of my 30% Pitts which I totaled a year ago today at our Freedom Fly. I do repairs for others in the club from the smallest to the largest, I just love building planes. thanks Ed Waldrop |
